Mid-Century Desk Redesign
I lovingly and painstakingly redesigned this Mid-Century modern desk to give it a more updated and sophisticated feel. The piece was first given a new lease on life with a sturdier base and a fresh coat of white paint. Hand applied herringbone drawer fronts and back panels (giving the piece a finished back) were painstakingly glued, filled, sanded, and ebonized with black tea, steel wool and vinegar. I then hand decorated the desk with faux marble and gold accents. The original hardware was restored and applied and a playful little fox pull was added to the center drawer. The insides of the drawers were lined with a lovely pink, grey, and white geometric fabric. The handmade tassel that hangs from the center pull matches the drawer liners perfectly and adds a fabulous finishing touch to this sophisticated yet whimsical piece.
