Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes!

Posted by on Thursday, December 1st, 2016 in Miscellaneous.

Hello everyone, I feel like it has been a while! I have been busy trying to get everything ready for little Vera’s arrival including some more home renovations, finishing the nursery, and working on a few DIY projects. I have a lot to update you on!

First, let me start by saying that I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday! It was a very relaxing and productive holiday weekend for us. I made a small Thanksgiving meal just for the two of us, put up the Christmas tree and Brian and I cleaned and organized the basement, which will probably be the last of the large projects before our little one is born. I really wanted to get the kitchen fixed up too, but I am like a weeble-wobble now, I fall over just standing in place, so a ladder is probably not the best idea at this point.

In the beginning of the month, I did manage to get the bathroom repainted, installed a new light dimmer and fixture (with lots of help from Steph) and finished decorating the nursery. All we have left to renovate now is the kitchen and two bedrooms. I am so anxious to have it all looking refreshed and clean but I guess it will just have to wait.

Steph is also undergoing a fantastic transition in her career as she moves into the home remodeling business. She is working hard and learning so much! On top of all of the work she is putting into her new job, she is still working Saturdays at Stone’s Throw and taking on clients through The Raven & the Writing Desk.

Since we are both so busy right now and plan to be in the coming months, we will be changing the structure of our blogs. Previously we were able to keep up with 4 blogs a week. We are now cutting that back to two guaranteed blogs a week; Interior Tuesday and Furniture Friday. In addition, we will be posting intermittently as we have inspiration, life updates, DIY projects, and recipes to share.

I also want to mention that this will not turn into a baby blog, our main focus will still be inspiring furniture and interiors. I will probably occasionally include my little one in posts and write a few kid related DIY blogs, but the overall theme of this blog will not change.

Thank you for sharing in our journey! We can’t wait to take this next step in our lives and continue to grow ourselves and our business!

XOXO

Go for Faux Fur

Posted by on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016 in Interior Design.

What’s soft, warm, and oh so grand? I’m sure you know the answer by looking at the title – faux fur! I can’t help but fall for luxurious, cozy fur. Of course if you want it to be animal friendly, go for faux. No matter the color I enjoy this texture a lot because it draws you into a space and forces you to feel the material for yourself. It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it!

We are fast approaching winter and it gets quite cold here in Michigan. What better than a fur blanket to curl up with by the fire. That is why I have to show you some of these faux fur throw blankets so that you can get ready for the winter season.

Faux Fur Throw Blankets

H&M | Anthropologie | Pottery Barn | Restoration Hardware

These blankets are great to use as a decorative accent on a chair or sofa. Just fold it in half a couple times and drape it over the back of a chair or the arm of a sofa. It can even lay over a chaise lounge or ottoman to add texture and interest.

Faux Fur Pillows

Anthropologie Chroma | Anthropologie Diamante | H&M

Faux fur pillows are also a great way to mix in this texture. One tip I have for you, whether choosing a blanket or pillow, is to look at the cleaning instructions. It is always easiest if they are machine washable but some may be dry clean only.

Stay warm this week and enjoy these fun faux fur accents. I know I have a couple on my list for Santa. Also, let us know if you have any fun fur suggestions for the home. We would love to hear about them!
