Stephanie’s New Year’s Resolution: Time Management

Posted by on Tuesday, December 27th, 2016 in Miscellaneous.

Now that Christmas has come and gone, it is time to focus on the new year. I know that 2017 will be a great year for me and hopefully for you as well. There are a lot of things that I look to improve and accomplish. I will also be turning thirty half way through the year so this is the perfect time to set new goals and look forward to achieving them.

New Year, New You, Need Time

One of the biggest new year’s resolution that I hear is to be healthy, get fit, lose weight, and so on. While that’s a great place to start for most, I need to get to the root of the problem: time.

My main and only new year’s resolution for 2017 is to work on my time management. In doing this I can make time to be healthy, organized, and stay ahead of the game. I already began to work on this, so let me share with you some of the steps I have started to implement.

  1. Start by timing everything that you do, that way you know how much time to allot for that given task.
  2. Prioritize and perform the most important task first to ensure that it gets done before its deadline.
  3. Restrict how often you check your email. Try to keep it to one or two times a day.
  4. Develop a routine for your daily activities, such as your morning to-do’s.
  5. Limit your time on social media.
  6. Get a full night of sleep so that you can function better throughout your day and be more productive.
  7. Realize that you may not get everything done in your day, but improve what you DO each and every day and you will eventually see the bigger picture.

This is quite the list (considering it’s still in process) and I know it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. The point is to get a routine to your day so that you can fit in all of the tasks you want/need to do while still maintaining a social life and keeping up with your health. In the end you will achieve success, and that will be worth it alone! I know for me the feeling of accomplishment is enough to put my mind at ease.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to improve time management. Throughout the year I hope to go into further detail on how I manage my time and let you know how it is going for me. Of course, feel free to expand on this list to make it work for yourself. All in all the new year is bound to be a good year if you stick with it and work hard. Let’s do this!
