Today I would like to introduce you to the design company and Etsy shop Railis Design. This design studio is family owned and operated out of Husavik, Iceland. They offer eco-friendly products that give people the ability to share in Iceland’s rich culture. The designers at Railis enjoy the natural splendors of Iceland, which inspires them to find new ways to be better to the environment. As a result, most of the items created by Railis Design clearly draw inspiration from Iceland’s pristine waters, striking landscapes, majestic mountains, and lush wildlife. Take a look below to soak in some of their beautifully handcrafted dark Icelandic designs.
I love the way the black finish makes the copper and brass really pop. I also really love the simplicity of the designs which puts an emphasis on their beautiful craftsmanship. These pieces inspire me to do more with black wood staining in the future. I have ebonized wood in the past with vinegar, black tea, and steel wool, but the process was painstaking. I think in the future I will try a black stain (which is what Railis uses) and see if I attain better results. Are you feeling inspired?! Let us know in the comments below!
Yes, it’s true, today is my 28th birthday! So far I have gotten to sleep in (hence the late post), open gifts, and spend time with my (sick) husband. Later, Steph and I are going to a 2017 color event and Brian and I will be going to Amore for dinner. Overall I think this is shaping up to be a pretty awesome day. Hope you all have a lovely Thursday as well!
